Charles Baumgart graduated from El Cerrito High School in 1964. He served in the US Army Reserves as the artillery fire direction control chief from 1965 to 1971. Charlie became a machinist apprentice at Airo Temescal in Berkeley, California from 1964 to 1966, and subsequently earned his machinist designation for Airco Temescal until 1970.

Charlie's passion was carpentry, and in 1970 he began working for R.E. Meadows, a custom home builder located in El Cerrito, California as an apprentice carpenter. He became a journeyman carpenter in 1972 where he continued to work for R.E. Meadows until 1976. In 1971, Charlie was asked to represent Union Local 642 in an apprentice state-wide carpentry competition, where he placed third in the state.

From 1976 to 1984, Charlie worked as the Assistant Superintendent at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, California. In 1980, he obtained his General Contractors License. In 1984, Charlie decided to return full-time to building. Since 1984, Charlie has done residential remodeling as well as commercial and shopping center construction and remodeling.

Charlie works with a variety of skilled professionals who can assist with kitchen & bathroom layout and design, architectural drawings for additions and remodels and interior design.
